Yay! She's finished finally! (And that IS my laptop- Andromeda!)
This plushie was really interesting to do. I had one drawing of the PayPal Faery that I'd done for ACEOs on Etsy and that was it, so first I had to sketch out the other angles that I needed. The first thing I discovered about my initial character design was that it wasn't going to work at all from the front, so I changed up the bangs a bit until I was happy with the sketch. Then I started working on the plushie.
The body was cut from light green buttersuede fabric and sewn together in roughly one hour. She was stuffed with all-new polyester fiberfill and had her head attached with cotton thread. (The actual stitching on her is done with a cream colored thread, but that doesn't seem to detract from the skin color at all, actually.) Her facial features were painted on with black, green, and white acrylic paint and then green and gold glitter glue was added to her eyes.
Her faery wings are made from two layers of white felt, each with green and gold glitter glue applied around the edges. The wings were sewn to her back, and then her hair was applied. I cut a large piece of green felt for the hair and began shaping it around the head, then cut it in to strips for the curls. After I got six curls done, I realized I had no more room for curls (and actually the character design called for 3 curls in the back on each side anyway). But... I had a strip left, dead center in the back of her hairstyle...
The good thing about a plushie of an original character is that I- the creator and designer- can yell "Artistic license!" and change whatever we want. So, I cut the last strip in to three smaller strips and braided them, gluing the ends with a piece of white felt. I then added one more curl in front of her left ear for a little balance with the bangs on that side of the face (after, of course, adding the bangs- which are detailed in green glitter glue). I then found a dark green satin bag that was sent to me and added some "gold coins" cut from yellow felt for the PPF to have- of course, with the intent of depositing them in PayPal accounts!
The PayPal Faery is the official patron Fae of the EarthPath Artisans Street Team (EAST) on Etsy.com. She flies from EASTie to EASTie, depositing money in their PayPal account and then moving on to the next deserving recipient. She can be lured out with glitter and chocolate if you're careful and be sure to do her sacred chant: "Money comes easily and frequently, Prosperity is abundant and harms none."
The PayPal Faery is about twelve inches tall. She is probably not child safe, what with all the glitter glue and the fact that her hair is on there well, but may not stand up to play abuse. Do not throw in washer or have dry cleaned- spot clean only with a wet rag and mild soap as needed.
This is my first plushie with wings, curls, a braid, and ears. It's also the first time I've done fingers and toes on a plushie, and the first time I haven't had to make clothing.
